Here’s the thing about staying on Stará Louka that guidebooks don’t tell you: you’re in this sweet spot where you can grab morning pastries from the little bakery just down the street (the one locals actually go to, not the touristy places), but you’re also close enough to walk to Diana Lookout Tower if you’re feeling ambitious. The building itself is quiet – I was worried about noise being on a main street, but the windows are solid and honestly, this part of town settles down pretty early anyway. Sylva clearly knows what travelers need because there were all these little touches I didn’t expect – good WiFi obviously, but also things like extra towels, local maps with handwritten notes, and the coffee setup was way better than most hotels I’ve stayed in. The only tiny downside? The stairs to the third floor might be a bit much if you’re hauling heavy luggage, but it’s an old building and that’s just how it is. Overall though, if you want to experience Karlovy Vary like you actually live there for a few days instead of just passing through as a tourist, this place nails it perfectly.
