During the day you’ll hear some street noise and the occasional tour group wandering around the castle area, but evenings are genuinely peaceful up there. The view isn’t spectacular or anything, but there’s something nice about looking out over the rooftops toward the spa district, especially when the lights come on. I stayed there in late September and the mornings were crisp enough that I’d actually open the windows wide – you get these great cooking smells drifting up from the restaurants below mixed with that slightly sulfuric spa town air that somehow becomes oddly comforting after a day or two. The check-in was straightforward, no drama, and they were pretty flexible when my train got delayed. Parking can be a bit tricky on that narrow street, but there’s usually something available if you don’t mind walking a block or two. I’d definitely go back – it’s the kind of place that does the basics really well without any fuss, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re spending your days soaking in mineral baths and wandering around a fairy-tale town.
