First Impressions
Walking up to Bluestars Family in Karlovy Vary, you immediately get the sense this is a place that knows its audience. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — this three-star property sits comfortably in a residential area that feels authentically Czech, away from the tourist crowds but still accessible to everything you’d want to see. The building itself has that solid, unpretentious charm you find throughout this part of the country, and honestly, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right.
Location & Getting Around
The Závodu Míru address might not mean much until you realize how perfectly positioned this place actually is. You’re in a quiet neighborhood where locals go about their daily business, which I mean, gives you a real taste of Karlovy Vary beyond the spa resort facade. The famous colonnades and thermal springs are easily reachable, but you’ll appreciate coming back to this peaceful spot after a day of sightseeing. And here’s the thing that’ll make your trip so much easier — they offer free parking, which anyone who’s driven through Czech spa towns will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The Rooms
The accommodations at Bluestars Family strike that sweet spot between comfort and practicality. You won’t find over-the-top amenities, but everything you need is there and works well. The rooms feel spacious enough for couples (which explains why this place gets such high marks from romantic travelers), and there’s a family-friendly vibe throughout that makes sense given the name. What I particularly appreciated was how quiet everything stays — you know how some hotels seem to amplify every footstep and conversation? Not an issue here.
The Experience
There’s something to be said for a hotel that doesn’t oversell itself but delivers consistently on what it promises. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, and they have that local knowledge that can point you toward the better thermal baths or recommend a restaurant that isn’t just catering to tour groups. You get the feeling this is a place where guests return, not because it’s flashy, but because it simply works well for exploring Karlovy Vary without breaking the budget.
Why Guests Love It
Couples keep rating this place highly because it offers exactly what you want for a romantic getaway to a spa town — comfort, quiet, and that free parking situation that lets you explore the region at your own pace. It’s the kind of place where you can base yourself for a few days, venture out to soak in thermal springs or wander the elegant colonnades, then return to a peaceful spot that feels more like staying in a well-run guesthouse than a commercial hotel. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that focus on doing the fundamentals really well rather than trying to impress you with unnecessary extras.
To book hotel in Karlovy Vary for the International Film Festival season, travelers reserve early to pair morning colonnade strolls with late dinners at the Grandhotel Pupp.

All great Proxymity to Karlovi Vari
Very Good Easy key locker
What could be improved: Shower not comfortable and open window view to neighbours while being in the shower, not great privacy …
I had an excellent stay; the service was outstanding, the staff was friendly, and the accommodations I particularly enjoyed the friendly and attentive staff, the clean and comfortable accommodations, and the excellent amenities available during my stay
Pleasant What could be improved: The guest registration system is awfully complicated, with a dedicated webform on the third-party site where I have to enter my personal data. I would rather prefer to handle such questions directly via booking
Excellent Its clean and comfortable to stay
Adequate for a night's sleep but hidden costs may arise The price was very good, location is good if you have a car (didn't try the public transport) and generally the apartment was comfortable enough for the price.
What could be improved: Check out is until 9 am, and you can extend it with a 10 euro fee but only until the time they give you, which in our case was 10:30, which is the typical check out time. Check-in is also only possible online and they ask suspiciously a lot of information from every guest. They also ask for a 40 euro deposit which felt like they would try to keep for small excuses Ike "you didn't separate the garbage enough", "you arrived 10' before/later than planned", "you didn't undo the sheets as described", etc.
The place had a mild smell of mold when you get in, a couple of spiders, no curtain in the shower, almost no hand soap, the heating was not adjustable, and no blinds on the windows! Only some semi transparent curtains and bear in mind it was on the ground floor.
Finally, I want to mention that I got very annoyed by the dozens of messages that started arriving after the booking. Some pointless repeated information, some in 3 different languages, and some important information which can easily be missed in that chaos.
To sum it up: they try to find cheap ways to get more money and the whole experience didn't feel welcoming.
Good Very good contact with owner. Very good price vs quality.
What could be improved: Electrical fuse respinsible for elecrtical points in living room (for fridge) is nkt working properly.
Great place if you like filth and spiders. Location is not great, but there is a grocery store nearby and there is a direct bus to the city center. Wi-Fi was good.
What could be improved: The apartment was in an appalling state in terms of cleanliness. The floor was so dirty I managed to cut my foot with a tiny piece of glass on our first day. The apartment is permeated by a damp and musty smell. There was an old and smelly rag under the kitchen sink. To top it off, the apartment is a house for at least three spiders, one of them so big you might think it has been living there for at least a year. Overall, the apartment obviously has not been cleaned for a very, very long time.
In reality, the apartment is much smaller than suggested by the photos made with a wide lens. The photos also don't show all the filth you will find in the apartment. Note that in the bathroom you will find a bath without a shower curtain, so good luck taking a shower without spilling the water all over the place.
Check-in and check-out instructions are so convoluted they spam you with 10 messages to explain everything. The fact that we needed to pay a 1000CZK deposit is fine, although this fact should have been included in the apartment description.
Good Spacious, clean rooms, lots of beds. Automatic check-in.
What could be improved: Bathroom was small and with a tilted roof, so we could not stand properly in the shower. No bins to separate trash in the apartment. Early checkout at 9am with threats of extra payment per person per 20min. Not very welcoming.
Very Poor -
What could be improved: Poor quality bed linen, very dusty.
No refund of 1000 CZK deposit
