Boutique Hotel Saxonia
You know what struck me first about Boutique Hotel Saxonia?
You know what struck me first about Boutique Hotel Saxonia? It’s tucked away on this quiet side street – Pod Jelením skokem – which honestly sounds intimidating if you don’t speak Czech, but it’s actually perfect because you’re close enough to everything without dealing with the tourist chaos that hits the main spa district. I mean, you can walk to the famous colonnades in maybe ten minutes, but when you come back at night, it’s blissfully peaceful.
The building itself has this understated elegance that feels very… well, very Karlovy Vary if that makes sense. Not trying too hard to be flashy like some of the grand dame hotels closer to the Teplá River, but there’s real attention to detail everywhere. The lobby smells faintly of cedar and something I couldn’t quite place – maybe bergamot? – and the staff actually remembers your name after day one, which is rarer than it should be these days. My room had these gorgeous high ceilings and windows that opened properly (thank god, because some of these renovated buildings trap you with sealed windows), and honestly, the bed was one of those where you sink in just enough without feeling like you’re drowning in foam.
What really won me over though was how they handle the whole spa town experience. Look, Karlovy Vary can feel overwhelming with all the thermal spring protocols and the crowds of people clutching those ceramic drinking cups – but the concierge here actually gave me useful intel. Like which springs to hit early morning before the tour buses arrive, and where to find decent coffee that isn’t tourist-trap pricing. There’s this little café about three blocks down Zámecký vrch that locals frequent – I never would’ve found it without their tip. The hotel’s breakfast situation is solid too, proper Czech pastries alongside the usual international stuff, and they source their honey from somewhere local that tastes like wildflowers.
Parking was surprisingly painless – they’ve got a small lot behind the building, which is clutch because driving around the old town center is basically impossible during high season. The whole area gets pretty busy from May through September, but even then, this street stays relatively calm. I stayed in October and it was perfect – cool enough for long walks, fewer crowds, and the autumn light hitting those pastel buildings is just stunning. One tiny thing – the WiFi occasionally got spotty on the upper floors, but honestly, that might’ve been a blessing in disguise. Sometimes you need an excuse to actually disconnect and soak in those thermal baths properly.
Early hotels booking in Karlovy Vary requires advance planning during peak wellness seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s renowned thermal springs and relaxation treatments.

Wonderful Pros: clean room, great location, availability of a robe and slippers (often not available in other places), helpful staff, excellent cuisine! Great coffee! (and that's rare)!!
What could be improved: everything was great, but er clean, the staff is responsive, except for one small but, the room was a semi-luxury, and there was a weak wifi, which disappeared very often, I had to distribute from my phone for work, it was the 3rd floor
Exceptional The hotel is well situated, close to many restaurants and shops. My room was very comfortable, and of a good size. Breakfast was decent, it was buffet style with the variety you would expect from a small hotel. Staff was courteous and helpful.
As a note, the hotel is located close to the main street area, albeit up a slight hill with controlled traffic. I walked to the hotel from the train station and was met with a surprise set of steps, it might be easier for those with more luggage or mobility issues to have a car/taxi bring you.
Except the parking place the hotel is OK. The breakfast was great.
What could be improved: The parking area is 1 km from the hotel and is reached by a hard climb. This is not listed anywhere and is only discovered in place. For this reason I will not come to this hotel anymore.
We received exceptional care from reception personnel and ladies in the restaurant were amazing! Very clean and modern
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing
Very Good Clean, comfortable hotel.
What could be improved: Mediocre breakfast (selection and quality), car park available but far away.
Comfy hotel Amazing and comfy rooms
What could be improved: Location is quite challenging as it’s situated on the hill
Excellent - would use again. The location of the hotel was excellent. There is a short but steep hill from the main thoroughfare but it can be avoided by using the lift from the kollonade. The rooms were clean and comfortable and reception staff very helpful. Breakfast was varied and abundant with both hot and cold dishes. These changed slightly every day. The homemade bread was delicious.
What could be improved: Difficult to find something I did not like but as an older person I would have wished for a "grab bar" in the shower.
Exceptional The breakfast was really exceed my expectation. There were many varieties for breakfast, all of them were very fresh. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is also great, it is very close to center.
In general it was good. It was clean and nice. The stuff is very nice and friendly.
What could be improved: It is not mentioned that there is no pool. When I booked the room, I saw, that the hotel has spa. But when I arrived, I found out that we should pay extra money for using it. And there is no pool. It would be better, if that condition was written at the beginning.
Beautiful accommodation, breakfast superb and staff were fabulous in all areas. Beautiful accommodation, very comfortable, modern and tastefully done. Breakfast superb and very nice quality. Staff were fabulous in all areas. Receptionist helped us with our return journey home with valuable advice.
What could be improved: It didn't bother us but the hotel is set on a steep hill so may not suit others. But it is worth it for the views and fab accommodation.
