Bristol Palace
You know what hit me first about the Bristol Palace?
You know what hit me first about the Bristol Palace? It’s actually perched up on Zamecky vrch – Castle Hill for those who don’t speak Czech – which means you’re literally staying where Karlovy Vary’s story began. I mean, most people just rush down to the main colonnade area, but being up here gives you this whole different perspective on the spa town that honestly feels pretty special.
The hotel itself has that solid four-star vibe without trying too hard to be something it’s not. The rooms are comfortable (though some of the bathrooms could use a refresh – just being real here), and the staff genuinely seems to know the area well. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night up on the hill – you’re close enough to walk down to all the thermal springs and that beautiful Mill Colonnade in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your window. The walk back up is a bit of a climb, especially after you’ve been sampling the local Becherovka, but honestly? It’s worth it for that elevated feeling.
Here’s the thing that surprised me most – the Bristol Palace actually puts you in this sweet spot where you can explore beyond just the main drag. The castle ruins are practically next door, and from up there you get these incredible views over the whole Teplá River valley. Plus, you’re positioned perfectly to wander into some of the quieter streets where locals actually hang out, not just the tourist-heavy areas down by Vřídlo Spring. The hotel’s location also means you can easily walk to some of the lesser-known thermal springs that don’t get mobbed during peak season (which, by the way, is pretty much May through September here). Parking isn’t terrible either – always a win in European spa towns where some places act like cars don’t exist. I’d say the Bristol Palace delivers on being a proper base camp for exploring Karlovy Vary without the pretentious spa resort markup you’ll find closer to the famous colonnades. It’s comfortable, well-positioned, and the kind of place where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you need to dress up just to walk through the lobby.

What Our Guests Say
Wonderful Beautiful, expansive, and historic!
What could be improved: A bit difficult to navigate the expansive complex.
Very Good Location was excellent. We enjoyed the restaurant and bar.
What could be improved: The rooms were quite modest. We were expecting a little more luxury feel. The tub shower did not feel safe and the shower curtains were inadequate. Not enough fruit offered at breakfast and the was inferior.
Comfortable rooms, with a great view, but staff need some training A good hotel, with comfortable and spacious rooms. It was good to have spa facilities in the hotel (even if you had to walk through the labyrinth to find them 🤣) and a gym, with breakfast included. The hotel was up quite a lot of stairs/a steep road, but you got to know shortcuts over the stay. The main issue was some very unfriendly/cold staff, who could do with customer service training (although some of them were much nicer too).
Very Good I don't understand why I was offered to pay extra for swimming/sauna/gym as they are part of price for room at this hotel anyway.
Good The room was really nice and clean.
What could be improved: It was a very long walk to the swimming pool from our hotel. We didn't know that it was a complex of different hotels connected to each other and have a common swimming pool.
Stylish accomodation Nice old building
Good breakfast
Good price
What could be improved: Parking too expensive
The town is amazing to walk through. Loved the place. It’s gorgeous. The hotel var has excellent drinks and we had excel It was beautiful.
What could be improved: We booked this place hoping for a massage and total spa experience but there was no way to book online before and it was totally booked out for everything. The bowling lanes were closed too. I think the place was great but disappointed that the Anne cities we came there for were not available.
Beautiful location and spa The hotel complex and gardens were beautiful. Located an uphill walk from the main strip it’s surrounded by immaculately kept hotels and spas. The Bristol Palace spa was lovely, very clean and peaceful. Room was big and spacious.
What could be improved: There was a lot of variety at breakfast, fruits, pastries, muesli, breads, crepes and meats etc but it wasn’t that tasty. Less options and better quality would be amazing.
Very Good Nice historical building with nice people
What could be improved: No teapot :(
Will enhance your holiday experience the hotel, the view, the rooms, the feel of the place and the breakfast.
What could be improved: The hotel staff hardly speak any English and it was difficult to communicate. They did not even have a map of Karlovy Vary and they failed to tell us about the convenient way to get from the hotel to the centrum by taking 2: separate lifts from the hotel itself. We got to know of this only on the second day of our 2 day stay.
