Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of spa hotels in Karlovy Vary, and Dvorak Spa & Wellness on Nová Louka actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. The building itself has this slightly faded elegance thing going on – you know, the kind where you can tell it was probably gorgeous in its heyday and still has good bones, just with that lived-in character that honestly makes it more interesting than those sterile chain places.

What really won me over was how they handle the whole spa experience. I mean, you’re in Karlovy Vary, so thermal waters are kind of the point, right? But they don’t make a huge production out of it like some places do. The treatments feel authentic rather than touristy, and the staff actually knows what they’re talking about when it comes to the different spring waters and their properties. I stayed during shoulder season in October, which was perfect timing – still warm enough to enjoy everything but without the summer crowds that can make the whole town feel like a theme park. The location puts you close enough to the main promenade that you can easily walk to all the famous colonnades (the Mill Colonnade is maybe ten minutes on foot), but far enough up the hill that you’re not dealing with constant foot traffic and tour groups.

Honestly, the rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – comfortable beds, decent bathrooms, nothing that’ll blow your mind but nothing to complain about either. The real charm is in those little details that show someone’s actually thinking about the guest experience. Like, there’s proper parking (which, trust me, is not a given in this part of town), and the front desk staff seems to genuinely know the area rather than just reading from a script. One evening I was asking about a good place for dinner that wasn’t completely overrun with tourists, and the woman at reception gave me directions to this little wine bar tucked away on a side street that I never would have found otherwise. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference. The 8.2 rating feels about right – it’s not going to be the most Instagram-worthy place you’ve ever stayed, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re coming to Karlovy Vary for the thermal springs and want a proper spa experience without the premium pricing of the Grand Hotel Pupp crowd, this is definitely worth considering. Just don’t expect ultra-modern everything – the charm is partly in that slightly old-school European spa town atmosphere.
