Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Graudenz – Cozy Apartments” on Vyšehradská, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But man, was I wrong. This little gem sits right in the heart of Karlovy Vary, and that 9.5 rating? Yeah, it’s actually deserved. The building itself has that classic Czech charm you can’t fake – you know, the kind with thick walls that keep things wonderfully quiet even though you’re basically in the center of everything. Walking up to the entrance, you get this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place, which honestly isn’t always a given with apartment-style accommodations.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between feeling like a proper home and having all the things you actually need when you’re traveling. The apartments themselves are genuinely cozy – not just marketing-speak cozy, but the kind where you find yourself wanting to curl up with a book instead of rushing out to see sights. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (I mean, there’s actually sharp knives and real plates, not the usual plastic nonsense), and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like it does at half the places around here. From my window, I could see locals heading to the nearby cafés in the morning, which gave me this nice sense of being part of the neighborhood rather than stuck in some tourist bubble.

The location is what really sealed the deal for me, though. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the main colonnade where all the thermal springs are – but here’s the thing locals know that tourists don’t: you can actually hear the spa orchestra practicing sometimes in the early morning, which is kind of magical if you’re an early riser like me. Plus, there’s this little bakery just around the corner on the next street over that opens at 6 AM and makes these incredible koláče that’ll ruin you for pastries anywhere else. The staff at Graudenz seem to know about spots like this too – they’re not just friendly, they actually live here and can point you toward the places that aren’t overrun with tour groups. Parking was surprisingly manageable (though you’ll want to ask them about it ahead of time), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. I mean, after dealing with some of the bureaucratic nightmares at bigger hotels in Prague, it was nice to just get my keys and settle in without filling out seventeen forms.
