Hotel Asila
Honestly, when I first spotted Hotel Asila tucked up on Zámecký vrch, I wasn't sure what to expect – it's this quiet residential street that winds up the hill from Karlovy Vary's main spa district, and you know what?
Honestly, when I first spotted Hotel Asila tucked up on Zámecký vrch, I wasn’t sure what to expect – it’s this quiet residential street that winds up the hill from Karlovy Vary’s main spa district, and you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The three-star rating doesn’t lie, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the place that I actually appreciated more than some of the fancier hotels down in the tourist crush.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood instead of a postcard. You’re maybe a ten-minute walk down to the colonnades and all those famous hot springs, but up here it’s genuinely peaceful – I mean, you can actually sleep without hearing drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM. The staff seemed to know their regulars by name, which always tells you something about a place, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No fancy marble lobby or anything, just clean, functional rooms that smell like they actually get aired out regularly (you’d be surprised how rare that is in some Karlovy Vary hotels). The 7.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away, but it won’t disappoint you either.
What I really liked was how the place felt connected to the actual town. From some rooms you get these glimpse views over the valley, and in the morning you hear church bells instead of tour bus engines. The neighborhood has a couple of local pubs where you’ll find more Czech speakers than German tourists, which was a nice change of pace. Parking was surprisingly easy – there’s street parking that doesn’t cost a fortune, unlike down in the spa center where you’re paying premium prices just to leave your car. I stayed in late September when the crowds were thinning out, and honestly, walking down those winding streets to grab my morning coffee felt more like discovering the real Karlovy Vary instead of just doing the standard tourist circuit. Sure, the hotel itself isn’t going to win any design awards, but sometimes you just want a clean, quiet base where the shower has decent pressure and the Wi-Fi actually works when you need it.
What Our Guests Say
Very Good Location was good, near to colonnades. Near to hotel was a free elevator, to avoid the climb. Staff were helpful and polite.
Wonderful I travelled in winter dead season, so I asked in advance to heat the room. It was done. The accommodation is basic but everything works. Location is very good. The breakfast was great. I was the only one in the establishment-so they prepare everything just for me and there was a lot of selection (eggs, ham, cheese and cake). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Be aware that their English might be limited - which was not a problem for me. The price/value relationship was excellent.
What could be improved: Everything was ok.
Very Good Location perfect, but if you are travelling by car the parking place is difficult to find. The nearest was 20 min. upphill.
Great Location Perfect stay. Amazing location
What could be improved: Everything was great
It was able to get the job done! Sheet smelt odd, but the room had a cute feeling with the chandelier and curtains!! The gentleman at reception was very kind and welcoming!
What could be improved: A little older, and no hairdryer, could use a deep clean and some renovations!
Overall Good. Value for money Cozy rooms. All amenities were available (Fridge, Smart TV, WIFI, Hot water). Morning breakfast was decent. Hotel staff was polite and friendly.
What could be improved: Heating Inside room should need improvement.
Don't think I will come back Location is fine
What could be improved: Every morning there was loud trash collection at 6 AM:(
Breakfast is not included 😕
Basic, clean and with an excellent locataion Excellent location and lovely views
What could be improved: Reception is only open few hours a day and it's more an "aparthotel" rather than a "Hotel".
Lack of AC (33 degrees every day outside)
My room, atop the building was not very confortable because I could not stand up where I had my luggage
Would happily stay again Great location - close enough to the town centre whilst being far enough away to not be noisy in the evenings. Very clean too, and well equipped
What could be improved: Nothing - everything was fine
Wonderful Good location near the city center. Safe and quiet at night. Comfortable bed. Kind reception.
What could be improved: There was no wardrobe at the room. Small room and the breakfast with extra cost of 8 euros. Not 24h reception.
