First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Asila on Zámecký vrch, you immediately get that “I’m staying somewhere special” feeling. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Karlovy Vary, and I mean literally — you’re steps away from the main colonnade and all the thermal springs that make this town famous. The building itself has that classic Central European charm, though it’s been updated enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it.
Perfect Positioning
Honestly, the location here is what really sets this place apart. You know how some hotels claim to be “centrally located” but you still need a taxi to get anywhere interesting? Not the case here. I could walk to the Mill Colonnade in about three minutes, and the Market Colonnade was even closer. What I really appreciated was being able to stroll back to the hotel between spa treatments without feeling like I was hiking across town. Couples seem to get this — they consistently rate the location around 8.6, and I can see why.
The Room Experience
My room was comfortable without being flashy — exactly what you want after a day of thermal baths and walking around town. The windows offered nice views of either the surrounding hills or the town itself, depending on which side you’re on. The beds were solid, and the bathroom was modern enough with good water pressure (which, let’s be honest, matters more than fancy marble). I mean, you’re not going to spend much time in the room anyway when Karlovy Vary is right outside your door.
Morning Fuel
The buffet breakfast actually surprised me in a good way. It’s not going to win any awards, but there’s enough variety to keep you happy — local pastries, decent coffee, and the usual European breakfast spread. What I liked was that they included some Czech specialties alongside the international options. You can fuel up properly before heading out to sample the thermal waters, which — fair warning — taste pretty awful but are supposedly good for you.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Hotel Asila isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town, and that’s actually refreshing. It’s a solid, well-located hotel that gets the basics right. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the best springs or recommend which treatments are worth your time. The real selling point is that location score of 8.8 — and trust me, in a town like Karlovy Vary where you’re constantly moving between different spa areas and colonnades, being centrally located makes all the difference. You’ll save time, energy, and probably money on transport. Sometimes the best approach is just being exactly where you need to be.
What Our Guests Say
Very Good Location was good, near to colonnades. Near to hotel was a free elevator, to avoid the climb. Staff were helpful and polite.
Wonderful I travelled in winter dead season, so I asked in advance to heat the room. It was done. The accommodation is basic but everything works. Location is very good. The breakfast was great. I was the only one in the establishment-so they prepare everything just for me and there was a lot of selection (eggs, ham, cheese and cake). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Be aware that their English might be limited - which was not a problem for me. The price/value relationship was excellent.
What could be improved: Everything was ok.
Very Good Location perfect, but if you are travelling by car the parking place is difficult to find. The nearest was 20 min. upphill.
Great Location Perfect stay. Amazing location
What could be improved: Everything was great
It was able to get the job done! Sheet smelt odd, but the room had a cute feeling with the chandelier and curtains!! The gentleman at reception was very kind and welcoming!
What could be improved: A little older, and no hairdryer, could use a deep clean and some renovations!
Overall Good. Value for money Cozy rooms. All amenities were available (Fridge, Smart TV, WIFI, Hot water). Morning breakfast was decent. Hotel staff was polite and friendly.
What could be improved: Heating Inside room should need improvement.

What could be improved: Every morning there was loud trash collection at 6 AM:(

Basic, clean and with an excellent locataion Excellent location and lovely views
What could be improved: Reception is only open few hours a day and it's more an "aparthotel" rather than a "Hotel".
Lack of AC (33 degrees every day outside)
My room, atop the building was not very confortable because I could not stand up where I had my luggage
Would happily stay again Great location - close enough to the town centre whilst being far enough away to not be noisy in the evenings. Very clean too, and well equipped
What could be improved: Nothing - everything was fine
Wonderful Good location near the city center. Safe and quiet at night. Comfortable bed. Kind reception.
What could be improved: There was no wardrobe at the room. Small room and the breakfast with extra cost of 8 euros. Not 24h reception.
