Hotel Bristol

So I’ve stayed at Hotel Bristol a handful of times over the years, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets Karlovy Vary right. You know how some hotels feel like they could be anywhere? This isn’t one of them. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this old-world elegance that actually feels authentic – not like someone’s trying too hard to recreate the Habsburg era.
The location on Sadova street is pretty much perfect, I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the main colonnade where all the thermal springs are. I love that you can hear the gentle murmur of people taking their morning spa walks from some of the rooms (the quieter ones face the courtyard if that’s more your thing). The staff here actually knows the town – when I asked about the best time to visit the Diana Lookout Tower to avoid crowds, the concierge told me about this back path that locals use. That’s the kind of local knowledge you don’t get at the chain hotels. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid four-star place – comfortable beds, decent bathrooms, though some of the fixtures show their age a bit. But there’s character here, you know? The wooden floors creak just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building, and the windows are these tall, elegant things that frame the street views beautifully.
What really sets Bristol apart, though, is how it fits into the rhythm of Karlovy Vary. The breakfast room gets this amazing morning light, and you can plan your day around the spa schedule while watching early risers heading to their first spring water of the day. The hotel bar is actually where locals meet for evening drinks – not just tourists – which tells you something about how embedded this place is in the community. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to European city centers), but they’ve got arrangements with a garage nearby, and the front desk is pretty good about explaining the whole system when you check in. I’d say the 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s genuine and well-run. If you’re coming to Karlovy Vary to actually experience the spa town culture rather than just snap photos, Bristol puts you right in the middle of it all without the stuffiness of some of the grander hotels up the hill.
To book a hotel in Karlovy Vary during peak spa season, travelers need early planning as this thermal resort draws visitors eager to experience its healing hot springs and elegant Belle Époque architecture.
What Our Guests Say
Overall good experience Room was very clean and beautiful, breakfast was great. Hotel overall is very beautiful in the style of old castles, so very nice old style, especially the place for breakfast. The hotel is consisted of several building and all are connected through passages which is fun experience. The hotel also has beautiful backyard park and seating are outside with great view over Karlovy Vary.
What could be improved: I was there in August and room was very very cold. The staff talks by deafult to me in russian, which i dont like as this is Czech Republic, so why everybody talks to me like I am suppossed to know russian? The water in pool was a also a bit cold.
Good Location, balcony, spacious room, comfortable bed, fridge
What could be improved: Very outdated hotel with rather weak services, low cost breakfast, difficulties with entry cards
Wonderful location is great, the food is good.
Good Location, food
What could be improved: Internal walking sistem
Review is about Bristol Palace: Beautiful rooms and breakfast but spa/pool was disappointing Review is about Bristol Palace, due to "upgrade". visit in November. An old-fashioned building at the top of a hill, great atmosphere and lovely room. A beautiful breakfast with a large selection, something for everybody (however badly organized). A cosy bar. The view from my top floor window facing west was spectacular.
Fridge, knife and spoon but no kettle.
What could be improved: Staffs knowledge of English needs to be improved, to say the least. Check-in took forever, the receptionist was multitasking, without focusing on the guest in front of her. In general, staff were uninterested, and did not answer to my "good morning" at breakfast.
I notified three times my first day of the safe in my room not functioning due to battery failure, but nothing happened.
Something has to be done about breakfast logistics! (Ex. Yogurt in one place, musli another and the spoons you need for it at a third place.) Every morning lack of tea cups.
Satellite TV but no Englishspeaking channel. I also missed a kettle in the room.
The hotels in the Bristol Group (Bristol Palace, Bristol, Teresa, Georgy House etc) are connected with an underground corridor, very badly signposted (hence uncomfortable to use), which you have to use to get to the spa and swimmingpool.
The pool area was very noisy, locks to lockers not working, and extremely slippery floor.
Very Good The staff is exceptional, the place is wonderful, the treatment is great.
What could be improved: The food was not good. The same dishes during two weeks. The presentation of the dishes could be better. Cooking is also not at the level.
Good location and great SPA Comfortable hotel, near the city center. It has a great swimming pool and SPA. The garden is also nice. Breakfast was ok
What could be improved: In the part we were, the rooms had quite old furniture
Wonderful Location
Wonderful The website was room, and customer service was quick to help with my questions. They even handled my special requests without any issues.
we stayed at that hotel for the third time. actually some tourists out time at the hotel by their behaviour. we were there due to its wellness and breakfast: it is always on really nice level. for its price it’s cool place and really good rooms
What could be improved: it isn’t the fault of hotel, but there were a lot of guests who didn’t use a shower before sauna or pool, who also used water in sauna that was forbidden, also guests put their new born children into the pool.
