Hotel Château Cihelny
You know what struck me first about Château Cihelny?
You know what struck me first about Château Cihelny? It’s actually in a real castle – not some fake Disney knockoff, but an honest-to-goodness château that feels like it’s been watching over this little corner of Karlovy Vary for centuries. The whole place sits on this quiet street (Cihelny 5, if you’re looking for it) that most tourists never find, which honestly is part of its charm. I mean, you’re still close enough to the main spa district that you can walk to the colonnade in about fifteen minutes, but far enough out that you won’t hear drunk spa-goers stumbling home at midnight.
The rooms have this perfect balance – they’ve kept all the character you’d want from a historic building (thick stone walls, those tall windows that actually open, original wooden floors that creak just enough to feel authentic) but they’ve modernized everything that actually matters. The bathrooms are genuinely nice, the WiFi works everywhere, and the beds are comfortable in that European firm-but-not-punishing way. What I really appreciated was the parking situation – they’ve got a proper lot, which is gold in Karlovy Vary where finding a spot can turn into a two-hour odyssey. The staff at check-in were refreshingly straightforward too, none of that over-the-top fake friendliness you get at chain hotels. They’ll tell you where to find the best goulash in town (spoiler: not at the tourist traps near the hot springs) and which thermal baths are worth your time versus which ones are just crowded and overpriced.
Here’s the thing about this place – that 9.2 rating isn’t inflated. It’s one of those hotels where small details actually work. The hallways smell like old wood and faint lavender instead of industrial cleaning products. There’s this gorgeous garden area where you can sit with morning coffee and plan your day without feeling rushed. The whole château has maybe thirty rooms, so it never feels crowded or impersonal. During spa season (basically May through September), you’ll want to book way ahead because locals know about this place, and they’re not sharing the secret widely. Winter’s actually lovely here too – they keep the common areas properly heated, and there’s something magical about being in a castle when snow starts falling over the Bohemian hills. If you’re the type who needs a pool and room service until 2 AM, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual soul, where you might bump into Czech families on holiday rather than just tour groups, Château Cihelny gets it right in ways that surprised me.
Karlovy Vary’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with spa amenities, perfect for wellness travelers wanting to experience daily life in this rejuvenating Czech resort town.

Peaceful stay in chateau style hotel Lovely room and evening dinner Beautiful setting Spa facilities were nice
What could be improved: Breakfast was a little disappointing Fruit not fresh and limited selection of other items
Exceptional It was a lovely place
Wonderful Great location, huge rooms. Nice facilities and breakfast.
What could be improved: Sauna/Steam was only open for 4hrs during the day, so you have to plan around their schedule in the afternoon/evening. Steam room was very weak, thermostat needs to be turned up.
Perfect hotel for a relaxing weekend. Huge comfortable rooms, quiet and green area near Karlovy vary (10mins car ride). Good SPA area, a bit cold water in the swimming pool, atleast for our preferences.
What could be improved: The restaurant food was not perfect, and the staff there is not qualified. The staff barely knows english. There isn't much to do in the area, so more than 3nights are excess.
Wonderful I was really pleased with the hotel, the beautiful location, our room, the SPA with several saunas.
What could be improved: We had to book a significantly more expensive deluxe room in order to bring our dog. I would appreciate if there was an option with a basic room with a pet. The spa opening times could also have been a little more generous for the ones arriving in the evening.
We had a quick trip here for our anniversary and it was wonderful and relaxing. Beautiful property and rooms. Wonderful view from our room balcony. The food at the restaurant was phenomenal and we really enjoyed the amenities.
What could be improved: The road driving into the property was a bit rough with potholes bumps etc
No complaints Everything.
we loved our stay. The hotel was beautiful and the wellness amenities were great. The best thing though, was our dining experience. I believe Denisa is the name of the woman who was taking care of us. She was wonderful, her service was spot on and she took care to remember our preferences. She provided the best dining service I've experienced. I highly recommend adding the meal option to your booking. We did and we're delighted to learn that on top of our breakfast buffet, we also got a three course lunch as well as a three course dinner. Highly rated this hotel
What could be improved: The amount of stairs. But it was my fault as I booked a room with stairs IN the room, not taking into account how out of shape I am. lol
Beautiful place The place is beautiful and the staff are kind and helpful
What could be improved: The restaurant menu is limitated
Exceptional It was like staying in the castle- fairy tail ☺️.
Wonderful Located in a quiet place, away from everything, excellent for a good rest. The spa and the breakfast buffet and were wonderful. The room was very spacious and the bed was very large and comfortable.
