Hotel Dvorana
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Dvorana?
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Dvorana? It’s how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between being properly upscale and actually welcoming. I mean, walking up to this place on Chebská street, you’re not getting that intimidating luxury hotel vibe – it feels more like someone’s really well-appointed home, if that someone happened to have exceptional taste and a serious budget.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Karlovy Vary without being right in the thick of the spa zone chaos. You’re about a ten-minute walk from the main colonnade area (where all the tourists cluster around the hot springs with their fancy spa cups), but far enough away that you can actually sleep through the night without hearing groups of wellness enthusiasts chattering outside your window at 6 AM. The staff here – and I’ve stayed at enough places to know when people are genuinely helpful versus just going through the motions – they actually seem to enjoy helping you figure out the best times to hit the different springs or which restaurants are worth your time versus the tourist traps.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the attention to details that matter when you’re traveling. The rooms have proper blackout curtains (trust me, this matters when you’re trying to recover from travel), the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building, and – this might sound silly but it’s huge – the shower pressure is fantastic. I’ve learned not to take these things for granted after too many disappointing hotel experiences. The breakfast spread is substantial without being overwhelming, and they’ve got local pastries alongside the standard continental stuff. Honestly, their take on traditional Czech breakfast items is better than what you’ll find at some of the more touristy spots in town.
The building itself has this understated elegance thing going on – sort of modern European without trying too hard to impress you with flashy design elements. It’s the kind of place where you can come back after a day of walking around the spa district (your feet will thank you, by the way, because there’s a lot more uphill walking in Karlovy Vary than you’d expect) and actually relax. The common areas have this comfortable, lived-in quality that makes you want to linger with a drink rather than just rushing through to your room.
Look, with a 9.1 rating, you’re probably expecting me to say everything’s perfect, but what I appreciate most is that they’ve earned that rating by consistently doing the fundamentals really well rather than trying to wow you with gimmicky amenities you’ll never use. If you’re planning to explore Karlovy Vary properly – and I mean really getting to know the town, not just checking off the major sights – this is the kind of base camp you want.
Best hotels in Karlovy Vary range from charming boutique properties in the historic spa district to elegant grand hotels with stunning views of the thermal valley and surrounding forests.

Spacious Room, Unique Design, and Outstanding Service The room was excellent — very spacious and beautifully decorated, with an interior design you rarely see in hotels.
The staff was extremely friendly, and I especially appreciated that they allowed me to stay a bit longer after the checkout time.
Although it’s not in the town center, I think it’s a great option for staying, as everything is just 10 minutes away.
Lovely family run hotel Beautiful room. Friendly helpful staff. The sauna was also excellent value
