Hotel Ester
You know what struck me first about Hotel Ester?
You know what struck me first about Hotel Ester? It’s tucked right on Tržiště street, and I mean *right* there – you can practically touch the colorful baroque buildings from your window. Most people rush straight to the main colonnade area, but honestly, this little stretch is where Karlovy Vary still feels like a real town instead of just a spa destination. The hotel itself is this renovated 4-star place that doesn’t try too hard to be fancy, which I actually appreciated. The lobby has that classic Central European feel – think polished wood and understated elegance rather than marble everything.
The rooms are solid, nothing groundbreaking but comfortable in that European way where everything just works properly. I stayed on the third floor and could hear the occasional tram rumbling by (Karlovy Vary’s got this charming old tram system), but it wasn’t disruptive – more like gentle city background noise that reminded me I was somewhere with actual character. What I really liked was how close everything felt without being touristy-overwhelming. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from the Hot Spring Colonnade, but you can also duck into local cafés that aren’t charging tourist prices. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too – when I asked about hiking trails up to the Diana Lookout Tower, the desk clerk actually drew me a little map showing the less crowded route.
Here’s the thing about the 7.5 rating – it’s probably fair, maybe even a bit conservative. This isn’t a luxury resort where they’re going to wow you with amenities, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The breakfast was better than expected (proper Czech pastries, not just generic hotel bread), and they actually had decent coffee, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always guaranteed in smaller Czech hotels. The location really is the winner here though. You’re close enough to walk to all the famous springs and the Imperial Hotel area, but when you want to escape the crowds of spa-goers and tour groups, you can just head back to your quiet street. I found myself really enjoying the evening walks around the neighborhood – there’s something about these old spa towns after dark that feels almost secret. If you’re looking for a straightforward, comfortable base for exploring Karlovy Vary without paying premium prices for being directly on the main drag, Hotel Ester hits that sweet spot perfectly.

What Our Guests Say
Not perfect, but acceptable due to the great location The beautiful location and the lovely room view.
What could be improved: There was no coffee and tea maker as mentioned. It was not possible to request anything to the room because there was no phone and no reception in the evening.
Pleasant Really good location, hotel was so close to other
Comfortable and great location Location was great. The room is very spacious and quiet. Really good location and nice views from the window.
What could be improved: It may have been an honest mistake but the receptionist tried to charge us double for the tourist tax payment
Beautiful location but don't drive into the Centre. Parking is hard to find and very expensive. Location very good. Breakfast good value at 8 EU, but reception told us 18 EU so we didn't find out until last day that breakfast was only 8EU.
What could be improved: Reception staff poor, very poor German and poor English. Could not explain parking too us and gave us false advice on cost of breakfast. Parking a disaster. Need a permit to drive in the old city. Fridge not working, and curtains don't keep light out early in the morning.
Very Good The location was quite good, quiet and with a good view, near the springs and the thermals, as well as in the tourist area of the city. Bit far from the railway - about twenty minutes walking - but not so far as to be an issue and you can't have both anyway. The other reviews say the furniture is outdated, but in my opinion it is merely not in the sleek individuality-less style one expects from the hotels. It was bright and I personally really liked the colourful comforter, made the bed much more welcoming than the usual.
What could be improved: The bathroom was quite cramped, though the quality itself was good, but we were only given the shampoo, no shower gel.
Very nice stay, our room was great my only complaint is the wifi wasn’t working well. Very nice hotel, super clean and the rooms were great.
What could be improved: The wifi wasn’t very good, it was slow and kept cutting out.
Wonderful Great value for money.
Good enough! Location is great, almost on main pedestrian zone. Beautifull view from window on city and main street. Peacefull and relaxing place.
What could be improved: Parking place missing from hotel, need to find in guite busy area on other streets.
Very Good Location is great, very central, rooms were spacy, staff was nice:) High ceilings, great view from our room.
What could be improved: Heating was not working in one of our rooms, but it was still warm outside, we didn´t suffer from cold. Breakfast is basic. Hotel would need more attentive approach in terms of repairs and maintenanace.
We enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect. It’s in city centre and easy to get there. We had wonderful views from our rooms of the city. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was neat and clean. It has a handy access to the one small supermarket, many restaurant around the place and also bus stop.
