You know what caught me off guard about Hotel St.Michael? The moment you walk through those doors on Hamerská, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve stumbled into something genuinely Czech – not the touristy version they package for visitors, but the real deal. I mean, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble lobbies or anything, but honestly, that works in its favor. The whole building has this lived-in authenticity that a lot of the fancier hotels in Karlovy Vary sort of… well, they try too hard.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know the city at all. Hamerská runs parallel to the main spa district, which means you’re close enough to walk to all the colonnade action (maybe 8-10 minutes to the Mill Colonnade), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups and those little electric cars buzzing around all day. The street itself is quiet – I stayed there in late spring and could sleep with the windows cracked open, which is rare in the city center. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that overly formal front desk choreography you get at some places. The staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood, gave me solid recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps.
What really sold me on the place, though, were all these small details that suggest someone actually cares about the guest experience. The rooms aren’t huge – this is a historic building, after all – but they’re thoughtfully arranged. Good reading lights (seriously, why do so many hotels mess this up?), decent water pressure in the shower, and the kind of blackout curtains that actually work. The breakfast spread was honest Czech fare – proper bread, local cheeses, nothing fancy but everything fresh. I also appreciated that they had a small sitting area near the lobby where you could plan your day without feeling like you were camping out in a business center. The whole place just felt… comfortable, I guess. Like staying at a well-run guesthouse rather than a corporate hotel. Given that 8.1 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who felt that way. For the price point and the location – especially if you’re planning to explore beyond just the main spa zone – it’s honestly hard to beat in Karlovy Vary.
Karlovy Vary hotels provide guests with luxurious accommodations in Czech Republic’s premier spa destination, known for its healing thermal waters and imperial atmosphere.

Budget Double Room with Rock View
Max. people: 2 1 queen bedWhat Our Guests Say
It’s okay I liked the fact that it’s bit outside the city, has nice surroundings. The breakfast was okay.
What could be improved: They did not have window blinds, so in summer you have good sunshine starting 5AM in the morning which wasn’t ideal for our sleep.
Wonderful The reception staff was really helpful and gave very throughout expalantions of the area and how to get to center. Room was comfy, nice patio area.
Very Good Clean rooms. Hotel is outside of Karlovy Vary. Surrounding is quiet wich my family liked.
No restaurants around the hotel, but plenty in KV.
Solid place to stay for some hiking in Karlovy Vary The hotel is located outside of Karlovy Vary and close to the woods. When we arrived we got a warm welcome and the guy at the reception gave us a map and some useful information about the area. The room was clean and spacious. They have a nice terrace. The breakfast was simple, but good.
What could be improved: It gets very hot in the room on the top floor. A fly screen would be great because if you open the window there’ll get insects inside the room.
Good people at the reception are very friendly, nice breakfast, reasonable price for stay
Great stay in beautiful building. Breakfast was good, staff were very helpful and gave us a really good introduction to the area. Comfortable, clean and surrounded by beautiful countryside.
What could be improved: The shower head was hung quite low on the wall which meant we (around 5’8”) had to stoop very slightly to get under the head. Anybody taller might have struggled.
Good Great location with a bus stop to Karlovy Vary right in front of the hotel. Comfortable beds, cosy rooms with functioning radiators, fast Wifi, fine breakfast. Parking lot next to the hotel with a camera system.
What could be improved: The apartment bathrooms need a renovation, toilets on the ground floor even more. As a little bonus I would add two glasses to every room.
Bargain hotel worth a stay Room pleasant, bed super comfortable, great breakfast and price was very reasonable. Denis, owner went to a lot of trouble to make our stay nice. Parts of the hotel need a bit of maintenance (bathrooms) but we enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: Shower in particular had little water pressure and things just need a bit of love and attention. But we could live with that as the room was cheap and we would happily recommend if you want a nice and cheaper place to stay.
Very Good Location in middle of the forest was great! Easy to go there by car, and parking area was next to hotel.
Breakfast was great! Good value for the money!
good value for money Everything was very good for the price you pay
