LOFT Apartment

You know what struck me first about LOFT Apartment? The address says Anglická street, but honestly, you’d never guess you’re staying in what’s essentially a residential neighborhood in Karlovy Vary. I mean, most people think they need to be right in the thick of things near the colonnade, but this spot on Anglická is actually perfect – you’re close enough to walk to the spa district in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour groups shuffling past your window at 7 AM.

The apartment itself lives up to that 9.7 rating, and I’m usually pretty skeptical of numbers that high. It’s got this clean, minimalist thing going on that actually works – not the sterile kind of minimal, but more like someone with good taste just happened to leave their really nice place available for rent. The loft setup gives you way more space than you’d expect from the photos, and there’s something satisfying about having a proper kitchen when you’re traveling. I ended up grabbing groceries from the Tesco down the road and making coffee in the mornings instead of hunting for a decent café every day (though honestly, the coffee situation in Karlovy Vary can be hit or miss anyway). The WiFi actually works well – I had video calls without issues, which is more than I can say for some of the fancier hotels I’ve stayed at in Czech Republic.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Anglická isn’t a main thoroughfare, so you’re not dealing with traffic noise, but you’re also not so far out that you feel isolated. There’s a decent restaurant called U Fleku just a few blocks away if you don’t feel like cooking, and the walk into the old town takes you through some of those tree-lined streets that make Karlovy Vary feel less touristy than it actually is. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward waiting around in a lobby situation. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (street parking fills up during spa season), but there’s usually something within a block or two. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the stairs up to the loft might be a challenge if you’ve got heavy luggage or mobility issues, but that’s pretty standard for this type of place. For a three-star spot, it honestly feels more polished than some four-star places I’ve stayed at, and that rating makes sense when you factor in the value. If you’re planning to spend your days exploring Karlovy Vary’s spas and walking trails rather than hanging out in your room, this is exactly the kind of base you want.
