Residence Polonia – LAST available dates
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much when I first climbed up to the fourth floor of this building on Svahová – I mean, the name "LAST available dates" kind of makes it sound desperate, right?
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first climbed up to the fourth floor of this building on Svahová – I mean, the name “LAST available dates” kind of makes it sound desperate, right? But you know what, sometimes those overlooked spots turn out to be exactly what you need. The Residence Polonia sits up there quietly, and once you catch your breath from the stairs (there is an elevator, but it’s one of those tiny European ones), you realize you’ve actually stumbled onto something pretty solid.
What struck me first was how genuinely local this place feels. You’re not in the thick of the tourist madness down by the colonnades, but you’re close enough that a ten-minute walk gets you to all the spring action. The thing about Svahová is that it’s where actual Karlovy Vary life happens – there’s a little grocery shop around the corner where the cashier will try her English on you, and honestly, the morning routine of watching locals head to work while you’re sipping coffee feels way more authentic than staring at tour groups from your window. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “pleasantly straightforward” – clean, comfortable beds that don’t creak, and windows that actually open properly (you’d be surprised how many places mess that up). The heating works well too, which matters more than you think during those chilly Czech mornings when the mist rolls through the valley.
Here’s what really won me over though – the staff actually knows the area. I asked about a decent place for dinner that wasn’t a tourist trap, and instead of just pointing me toward the hotel restaurant, they sent me to this little hospoda about three blocks away where I ended up having one of the best goulash experiences of my trip. That’s the kind of local insight you can’t fake. The 9.1 rating makes sense once you stay here; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works the way it should. Sure, the building’s got that slightly worn Eastern European charm – the hallway carpet has seen better decades, and sometimes you can hear your neighbors if they’re having a loud phone conversation – but there’s something reassuring about a place that focuses on the basics rather than flashy amenities you’ll never use. Plus, parking is actually manageable in this neighborhood, which anyone who’s tried to navigate a car through central Karlovy Vary will appreciate. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like staying in someone’s well-maintained apartment rather than a sterile hotel room, and you want to experience the town like someone who lives here rather than just passes through, this spot delivers on that promise.
Best hotels in Karlovy Vary range from charming boutique properties in the historic spa district to elegant grand hotels with stunning views of the thermal valley and surrounding forests.

What could be improved: Closed any shop nearly. Would be great idea to have a minibar
Exceptional Ubytování bylo čisté. Pro nás bylo dobře umístěné, měli všude blízko. Hostitel byl vstřícný a milý.
Byli jsme zkrátka spokojeni.
What could be improved: Jen malá drobnost, která chybí snad téměř v každém ubytování. A to nějaké věšáky na ručníky.😀Čtyři osušky a čtyři menší ručníky by bylo fajn po umytí někam pověsit,ať můžou proschnout.
Relaxing time The whole apartment was spacious, the windows let in lots of light and I was very happy with the shower and the bath.
What could be improved: The bed wasn’t very comfortable because it’s a twin bed and it’s leaning down in the middle.
Exceptional Уютные, чистые апартаменты с прекрасным расположением в тихом центральном квартале.
Čisté, moderní, super komunikace a v úplném centru, takže doporučuji!☺️ Čisté, moderní, super komunikace a v úplném centru, takže doporučuji!☺️
