You know what struck me first about Hotel Romania?
You know what struck me first about Hotel Romania? The name had me scratching my head since we’re literally in the heart of the Czech Republic, but honestly, it works in that quirky Karlovy Vary way where nothing’s quite what you expect. This little 3-star gem sits on Zahradní street, and I mean literally tucked into one of those tree-lined residential areas that most tourists walk right past on their way to the main spa district.
The thing is, that’s actually perfect if you want to experience Karlovy Vary like someone who lives there rather than just another spa tourist clutching a ceramic mug. From the hotel, it’s maybe a 10-minute stroll down to the colonnade area where all the thermal springs are, but you’re far enough away that you won’t hear tour groups chattering at 7 AM. The walk itself is pretty nice too – you pass these gorgeous Art Nouveau buildings that somehow survived everything the 20th century threw at them, and there’s this little bakery about halfway down that does incredible koláče if you’re into that sort of thing. The staff at Romania actually told me about it, which says something about how they think beyond just the standard hotel recommendations.
I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t going to blow you away with fancy amenities or marble everything, but what it does, it does really well. The rooms are clean and comfortable in that Central European way where everything’s built to last rather than impress Instagram followers. My room faced the quiet side of the street, so even with the windows open on warm evenings, it was peaceful. The breakfast was solid – proper Czech stuff mixed with some international options, and they actually had decent coffee, which you can’t always count on outside Prague. What really won me over was how the front desk folks knew the city inside and out. When I mentioned wanting to find some of the lesser-known hot springs, they didn’t just point me toward the crowded ones everyone hits. They sketched out a little map showing me how to get to this secluded spring about 15 minutes up the hillside that hardly anyone knows about.
The location on Zahradní puts you close to some residential cafés and restaurants where prices aren’t inflated for tourists, and you’re still walking distance from everything important. Plus, if you’re driving, parking isn’t the nightmare it can be closer to the town center. With an 8.6 rating, I’d say people get it – this place delivers on being a genuine local experience rather than trying to be something it’s not. It’s the kind of hotel where you end up staying an extra day just because it feels comfortable and real, you know?

VERY VERY COMFORTABLE BREAKFAST VERY GOOD , ROOM VERY GOOD , LOCATION VERY GOOD , COMFORTABLE LOCATION ,, STAFF VERY NICE
What could be improved: ALL THINGES IS OK
Great place to stay Great looking, comfy bed, I loved that bug pillow, had a fridge, they even packed me a breakfast earlier on my day to check out, thank you
What could be improved: No complaints
Wonderful Location was great, room was tidy, staff very friendly and breakfast good. My room was on the other side of the building (not the street-side) so it was very quiet. Room was also very dark and the bed was good so I slept really well. I would deffinitely come back again.
What could be improved: Early check-out (10 am).
Well located - easy walk from train station- tasty, reasonably priced menu and friendly staff. This hotel was a stone's throw to the 1/2 Marathon start/ finish line. Hotel had a lot of runners. The breakfast that came with it had a nice buffet and coffee machine for speciatly coffees. Afternoon beers outside on the porch, cozy dinner in the restaurant. they don't have a pool, but have a reciprocal agreement with the Windsor, so I swam laps in the morning.
Worth it Location - great, Staff - friendly and helpful, - Cleanness - very clean, Veaw - great
Breakfast was good and sufficient. There is a very good traditional restaurant in the same building which has also 10% discount for guests of the hotel.
Very good value for money.
What could be improved: Parking is an issue in the entire old town, and due to ist central location this hotel has no/limited parking options nearby.
TV was not smart, not an issue for 1-2 nights though.
Exceptional Everything was more than perfect
Good stay Great location. Very comfortable beds. Big enough room. Breakfast was good but limited choice.
What could be improved: I have been here two years ago and facility have seen it's best time already. Nothing critical but need some renovations or price reduction.
Exceptional Fantastic lady at the reception!
Clean and comfortable room!
What could be improved: I would recommend to put nameplate/ sign for the breakfast meals. For example there were different types of spread or salad dressing, which we were not able to identify from the look…
Very Good Very clean room, very comfortable bed and amazing view from the window
What could be improved: The only complaint would be the water in the shower. We were on the fifth floor, and the water was barely pouring
Nice hotel, Good Location. Excellent Restaurant as well. Recommended. Nice location, and free (motorcycle) parking provided. Friendly staff. The Restaurant did an Excellent Dinner - Stronly Recommended.
