First Impressions
Walking into Spa Hotel ULRIKA, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical four-star property. The intimate scale — honestly, it feels more like a sophisticated townhouse than a hotel — creates this welcoming atmosphere that larger places just can’t match. Located right on Sadova Street, you’re literally steps from the main colonnade, which I mean, that’s exactly where you want to be in Karlovy Vary. The staff greets you like they actually remember your name, not just your room number.
The Spa Experience
Here’s what sets this place apart — the spa treatments actually live up to the hotel’s name. I’ve stayed at plenty of places that throw “spa” in their title, but ULRIKA delivers the real deal. The thermal treatments use the same mineral-rich waters that put Karlovy Vary on the map centuries ago. You know what surprised me? They don’t rush you through treatments like some assembly line. The therapists take time to explain what they’re doing, and honestly, after a session here, you’ll understand why people have been coming to this town for healing since the 1300s.
Location Perks
The location feedback isn’t exaggerating — couples really do love this spot. From your window, you can watch people strolling to the hot springs with their ceramic drinking cups, and it’s just a two-minute walk to join them. The Mill Colonnade is right there, and if you’re into the whole thermal water ritual (which, let’s be honest, is half the reason you’re in Karlovy Vary), you couldn’t ask for better positioning. Plus, the main shopping area and those famous glass-blowing shops are all within easy walking distance.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant serves this interesting mix of traditional Czech dishes and lighter spa cuisine — I actually appreciated having options that wouldn’t leave me feeling heavy before treatments. Breakfast runs until 10 AM, which gives you time to sleep in after those evening spa sessions. There’s parking available, though honestly, once you’re here, you won’t need your car much. The whole historic center is perfectly walkable, and that’s really the best way to experience this town anyway.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back is how ULRIKA manages to feel both authentic and comfortable. You’re not staying in some sterile modern box — the building has character, with those classic Central European architectural details that remind you where you are. The recent guests’ high ratings make sense when you experience how everything just works smoothly here. The thermal treatments are genuine, the location puts you right in the heart of things, and the scale means you get personal attention. It’s the kind of place where you actually relax, which is sort of the whole point of a spa town getaway.
Exploring Karlovy Vary offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Czech Republic’s spa capital, from its healing thermal waters to its elegant architecture and world-renowned crystal glass heritage.

What could be improved: Snídaně do 9:30 prostě člověk co rad spí nemuze stihnout a pak by se hodilo mít někoho na baru obcas tam chybel kdo by vám dal servis
Lovely hotel and spa, with great amenities. Very clean and modern. The hotel and spa are very large and have almost everything you need.
What could be improved: We would have loved a kettle in the room to make a cup of tea as the weather was really cold.
Top Hotel in Karlsbad! Top Lage, leckeres Frühstück, Wellnessbereich ausreichend, super sauber.
What could be improved: Zu wenig Liegen im Wellnissbereich.
Wahr alles gut Zentrale lange
Sehr wohltuend und entspannt, wir kommen gerne wieder. 2 Pools, 1 Whirlpool, 3 funktionsfähige Saunen (4 Saunen insgesamt), schöne neue ordentliche Zimmer, nettes Personal
What could be improved: Ruhebereich im Wellnessbereich wäre schön gewesen
Wonderful Cool room, shower area is realy huge, size of room also very big. The biggest advantage is silence. Also Spa area quiet big, 3 of 4 sauanas was available, 2 pools( 1 termal and 1 regular). Also nice view, possibilities to have a rest on the roof with beautifull view, breakfast was also nice.
What could be improved: Lack of private parking, only couple places in front of hotel.
Exceptional Alles wahr gut
our stay was perfect and very relaxing it has all wellness facilities you need. the room is super nice and comfortable with everything you need!
What could be improved: receptionist didnt speak english well
This is not a 4* luxury hotel What could be improved: A very disappointing stay and not at all what we expected for the amount paid. The staff were very rude and unhelpful, the manager nowhere to be found and no information or help available anywhere.
The spa is inaccessible and an appointment impossible unless you speak Czech - upon arrival at the spa hotel, we were told that there was no one available to book treatments with and no one works past 3.30pm on a Friday even though the website says open until 5pm. We were told, rudely, we had to go to the spa at 9am the next morning to book something. 9am the next day, we go down to the spa and wait for 30 minutes are taken into a small office and huffily asked what we want. We want a massage but all that’s left is two 30 minute slots – we have the massages which last only 20 minutes. Czech radio is blasting throughout the whole thing. There are so many facilities at the spa but no one can explain them or offer access to them - it didn't make any sense.
A number of machines in the gym were broken.
The breakfast isn’t even close to what is described or shown on the website – few options. The buffet dinner also leaves a lot to be desired.
The rooms are not made up on a daily basis – only the bins are changed. We called down and asked that someone come and tidy the room but were told that only happens every 3 days – we were only staying 3 days. No facilities in the room - not even a coffee machine.
This is not a 4* service – this was not a cheap hotel/ None of the staff were interested in helping us – the lady on reception, Michaela, even laughed in our faces, when we tried to speak with her.
Good Excellent WiFi (suitable for some remote work).
Excellent location.
Very friendly staff in breakfast area.
What could be improved: Billard room was always closed.
Breakfast below average (mostly salty). Low quality marmelade.
Some fitness room equipments defective.
Many indications are only in Czech and russian.
