Star Hotel
You know what?
You know what? I’ve walked past the Star Hotel on I.P. Pavlova probably a dozen times before I actually stayed there, and honestly, it’s one of those places that looks better once you’re inside than it does from the street. The building itself has that classic Karlovy Vary architecture – nothing flashy, but it fits right into the neighborhood in a way that feels authentic rather than touristy. When you’re standing outside, you’re literally a three-minute walk from the main colonnade area, which I mean, that’s the whole point of being in Karlovy Vary anyway, right?
The thing that surprised me most was how quiet my room was, especially considering you’re practically in the heart of everything. I was expecting typical European city hotel noise – you know, traffic, people chatting late into the night – but the windows actually do their job. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place. Nothing revolutionary, but everything works properly, the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with a sore back, and there’s actually decent water pressure in the shower (which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in older European hotels). The decor is sort of modern-meets-traditional Czech – not Instagram-worthy, but not offensive either.
What really won me over, though, was the staff’s local knowledge. The woman at the front desk – I wish I could remember her name – gave me directions to this little bakery on a side street that I never would have found otherwise, and she knew exactly which thermal springs would be less crowded in the early morning. That’s the kind of insider information you can’t get from Google Maps. The breakfast spread is pretty typical for the region, but they do this local pastry thing that’s actually worth getting up for. Parking was easier than I expected too – there’s a small lot behind the building, and while it fills up during peak spa season (basically April through October), I managed to snag a spot without too much drama. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises, and in a town where hotel prices can get pretty steep during festival season, the Star feels like decent value for money. Plus, when you’re spending most of your time wandering around sampling mineral waters and soaking in thermal baths anyway, you don’t really need a hotel room that’s going to change your life.
Best hotels in Karlovy Vary range from charming boutique properties in the historic spa district to elegant grand hotels with stunning views of the thermal valley and surrounding forests.

Wonderful The location of the hotel is great, it is right in the center. The hotel was clean, breakfast was ok.
What could be improved: The mattresses were too hard and uncomfortable.
Very Good Location of this hotel is fantastic. Staff are very friendly, the rooms are a bit dated but very comfortable and spacious. We had an electrical problem in our room and were immediately relocated to another. Breakfasts are very good, something for everybody.
The highlight ,you get woken up at 7am by the Singing fountain.
Very comfortable room and hotel for the price, I would definitely recommend and stay there again The breakfast was very good and constantly refilling as necessary, hot and cold. Buffet style breakfast and lovely staff.
The hotel was very clean and in a good location.
What could be improved: The size of the twin beds were a bit narrow, like a bunk bed size of mattress (although they were comfortable)
Perfect to visit the termal spa and the City center The room was quiet, clean and bright. Parking is a plus.
What could be improved: The pillow was way too thin
Nice getaway! Great location, easy walk to everything. It was very clean, comfortable beds and a giant bathroom with a tub and shower and the breakfast was very good. The parking was right next to the building and the lady at the reception was very nice. We enjoyed our stay.
What could be improved: The floors were sticky in our room and the kids on the floor above us ran around in circles for about an hour before they went to sleep, besides that it was quiet.
Excellent location good value for money;) Excellent location, all the Colonades within walking distance.
What could be improved: The heating was not operating in one of the rooms.
Very friendly staff Very friendly lady at the reception. She didn't speak English, but we could still communicate in German (and hands and feet in my case). The hotel is well located, right next to the center, but it was quiet nonetheless. Breakfast included all the standard things one might like, such as yoghurt, some cereal, sausage, eggs, some types of bread...
What could be improved: The receptionist did not speak a word of English (but she compensated by her friendliness).
Wonderful Great location, very close to Mineral springs, supermarket, Saunia Thermal. We got checked in before the check-in hours. Breakfast is various from day to day, quiet and clean room.
Very Good Location
What could be improved: Breakfast was so-so.
Good and quiet room for rest close to the center with good breakfast. Cosy and warm bathroom, comfortable bed, very delicious breakfast, quiet room, good view to the city, parking near hotel, crepes on breakfast, good coffee and fresh fruits.
What could be improved: No 24h desk in hotel with 4stars, you need to go to another hotel opposite to take keys from your room and its hard to understand why! paid parking - you need to pay for parking extra. Interior in room little bit old but maybe its such design.
