Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Karlovy Vary, and honestly? Sunshine Pension surprised me. It’s tucked up on Na Vyhlídce – which literally means “at the lookout” in Czech, and yeah, they weren’t kidding about that name. The walk up from the main spa district is a bit of a trek (maybe 15 minutes if you’re not rushing), but that’s actually what makes this place work.
The thing about staying up on the hillside is you get this whole different perspective of the city. I mean, you’re away from the crowds shuffling around with their spa cups down on Teplá Street, but you can still see all the action spread out below you. The pension itself feels more like someone’s well-kept family home than a typical hotel – which makes sense because that’s basically what it is. The owners clearly put thought into the details, and you know what really got me? The breakfast setup. Nothing fancy, but they actually had proper Czech bread and local honey, not the usual hotel chain stuff. Small thing, but it matters when you’re trying to fuel up for a day of wandering around those thermal springs.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets up there at night. During spa season (basically April through October), the town center can stay pretty busy until late, especially around the Grandhotel Pupp area where all the festival crowds gather. But up at Sunshine Pension, you’ll actually sleep through the night without hearing drunk tourists stumbling over cobblestones at 2 AM. The rooms are simple – I’m talking proper 3-star simple, not trying to be something they’re not – but everything works and it’s spotlessly clean. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere near the colonnades, you’ll know is basically a miracle. The walk down to the spa district in the morning is actually pleasant, all downhill through some of the older residential streets where you can peek at how locals actually live. Coming back up… well, that’s your cardio for the day, but honestly, after drinking all that mineral water and eating spa town portions, you’ll probably welcome it.

Wonderful The room was comfortable, clean and big.. Nice sitting area in a private garden.
What could be improved: The parking access is a bit hard to find. It only has space for 4 cars. You have to be early.
Very good for one night in Karlovy Vary. We just slept in the hotel, so the main relevant points for us were cleanness a Clean and the check-in is very easy and rapid. The room was perfect for three people, clean and comfortable. Same for the bathroom. We saw a shared living room and kitchen, but we didn’t try it.

What could be improved: I lacked the table in the room, automatic light on the stairs should be better regulated
Superb The apartment is in a convenient location.. Just walk downhill and after 7-8 mins you'll reach promenade. The kitchen is shared but it has everything someone might need. We liked our stay there. Private parking is just in front.
What could be improved: Nothing to complain!
Clean Good Price Central Very Clean
Very Good The host was very friendly (althought he spoke little english, but we managed to understand eachother), free parking space, and it was preatty clean. The room was spacious and had a private bathroom. It was a little far by the center but easy to find the property.

So clean and quiet! Impeccably clean, very quiet, very comfortable. Check in was easy and the key was left in a safety case so you can arrive at any time. Far more affordable than other hotels in the area if you are looking at a budget option.
What could be improved: The pension sits at the top of a very steep hill. We were ok with this but make sure if you do not have a car that you have the physical capacity to walk up or even walk down a steep hill. It is a work out! The shower was also a little wonky.
Lovely place to stay Very nice place to stay. Lovely old(1862) house. Private parking. Clean room, comfortable bed. Fridge and teapot in a room. On 1st floor is kitchen with everything you need to cook and eat your meal. Recommend!
What could be improved: It was around 0°C outside but heating was working only at night, so at the middle of the day it was little bit cold in room.
