But honestly, you’re going to spend most of your time on that terrace. I found myself having coffee out there every morning, watching the town wake up below. Evenings are even better – the whole valley lights up, and you can actually hear the gentle bustle from the promenade without being overwhelmed by it. The only minor thing is that being up on the hill means you’ll want a car if you’re planning to explore beyond the town center, though parking isn’t the nightmare it is down by the hotels near the Grandhotel Pupp. The rating of 9.7 makes complete sense once you’ve been there – it’s one of those places where the photos don’t oversell it, which is rare. If you’re coming to Karlovy Vary for more than just a quick spa day, and especially if you appreciate having your own space with a view that reminds you why this place became famous in the first place, this penthouse delivers exactly what you’re hoping for.
