Venus
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Venus?
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Venus? It’s this unassuming four-star spot on Sadová street that honestly punches way above its weight class. I mean, when you first walk up, it doesn’t scream “luxury hotel” from the outside – it’s got that understated Czech elegance thing going on that you see all over Karlovy Vary. But once you’re inside, everything just clicks.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know the area. Sadová runs parallel to the main promenade, so you’re maybe a three-minute walk from all the thermal springs and the fancy colonnades where tourists cluster with their ceramic drinking cups. But here’s the thing – you’re just far enough removed that you don’t get the constant stream of tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and mornings were genuinely peaceful until around 9 when the day-trippers started rolling in from Prague. The staff seemed to really know their stuff too, which isn’t always a given in spa towns where places can get a bit… well, formulaic. Check-in was smooth, and the woman at reception actually gave me solid recommendations for restaurants that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps on Stará Louka.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to keep that traditional Karlovy Vary spa hotel feel without making it feel stuffy or outdated. The rooms have character – mine had these tall windows that let in tons of light, and you could actually open them properly (shocking, I know). The beds were genuinely comfortable, not just “hotel comfortable,” and the bathrooms had decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than people admit when you’re dealing with older European buildings. There’s this lived-in quality to the place that makes it feel authentic rather than like some chain hotel that could be anywhere. I did notice some minor wear here and there – nothing major, just the kind of things you’d expect from a place that’s been hosting guests for years. The breakfast spread was solid, though not spectacular – good local breads, decent coffee, and they had some Czech specialties alongside the standard European hotel fare. Parking can be a bit tricky in that neighborhood (it’s all narrow streets from the Habsburg era), but they’ve got it sorted with a small lot, which saved me from circling the block looking for street parking. For what you’re getting – that prime location, genuine character, and service that actually feels personal – the 8.3 rating makes total sense to me.

Decent stay at a premium spa hotel in Karlovy Vary Saunra and Whirlpool
What could be improved: breakfast spread, parking space is too expensive, massage on call not available even for hotel guests.
Wonderful My daughter and a friend of her. Just one night, but they really liked it. Since she is choosy, it will be good..
Very nice staff at the reception Very nice and helpful staff
What could be improved: The hotel is not very new and rooms are a bit outdated
I love the location very accessible especially in the city center. The place is very good and the lady at the front desk is very helpful and super nice to us.
Positive staff and beautiful hotel Amazing people, especially administrator. A very lovely and positive place. Small but cozy pool and sauna.
Hotel also left a complimentary gift in each room, with another complementary champagne/wine glass at the bar. Very lovely service. Breakfast was also very good.
What could be improved: N/A
Wonderful Place.room -perfect.
What could be improved: The staf in the resraurant.for some reason you can not sit where you want.
Great Location in Karlovy Vary Staff were very friendly and spoke various levels of English. Location was great. Facilities were good, especially the swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. Beds were comfortable and rooms were large. Water pressure of the shower was great. Breakfast was ok, not great but not bad either. Housekeeping was extremely friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Check-in! Took 25 mins to check-in the two couples before me. My own check-in was 10 minutes. It's not really a 4* hotel but rather a 3* hotel. I've stayed in 4* hotels and they're a much higher level than this but this one is not bad. Stay away from the dinner. It was an overpriced buffet with not a good selection at all. Better food at a lower price can be found in the restaurants around Karlovy Vary.
A grand hotel in a great location with excellent staff location and staff attitude were excellent
What could be improved: Smell of cigarette smoke in the room at times
Nice location Friendly staff, free access to the spa, location, cleanliness
What could be improved: Older furnishing, pretty strict rules (breakfast till 10, we were told to leave few minutes after). Overall the hotel looked like its best years were gone. Parking is NOT available.
Small and Amazing Super Cozy Hotel, and near the fountains. Food was amazing, bed amazing and staff super helpful. Exactly what we needed.
What could be improved: There should be information of the Spa treatments in english, since there were none.
