You know what caught me off guard about Villa Basileia Riverside? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet street – Marianskolazenska – that most tourists walk right past while they’re rushing to the main spa district. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute stroll from the Teplá River and maybe five from all those famous colonnades, but it feels like you’ve found this little pocket of calm that somehow escaped the crowds.
The building itself has that classic Karlovy Vary elegance – you can tell it’s been renovated thoughtfully, not just slapped with modern fixtures and called a day. When I walked into the lobby, there was this subtle mineral water scent in the air (honestly, it grows on you), and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood beyond just the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward this little bakery around the corner that I never would’ve discovered otherwise. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star – nothing flashy, but everything works and the beds are genuinely comfortable. The riverside view rooms are worth the extra cost if you can swing it, especially in the evening when the light hits the water just right.
What really won me over, though, was how the place handles the whole Karlovy Vary experience without being too precious about it. Yes, you can get your thermal water fix easily – the Vřídelní kolonáda is right there – but they’re not constantly pushing spa packages or acting like every guest needs to be on some wellness journey. The breakfast setup is actually pretty solid (decent coffee, real butter, none of that processed stuff), and they’ve got parking sorted out, which believe me, matters in this town. I stayed during shoulder season in April, and while some mornings were a bit chilly for the riverside walks, the hotel was never loud or chaotic like some places get during peak summer months. The 8.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re exploring Karlovy Vary. Plus, being slightly off the main drag means you can slip out for those early morning walks along the Teplá before the day-trippers arrive, then come back and actually relax instead of fighting crowds in your hotel lobby.
Hotels near me in Karlovy Vary offer convenient access to the spa promenade, where guests can easily walk to thermal springs, colonnades, and luxury wellness centers.

Exceptional Everything. A beautiful area near the action but also by the river forest.
What could be improved: Nothing
Very Good Good parking. Nice location, walking distance to center. Good breakfast.
beats the competition for value and atmosphere ! Great Location, very comfortable bed and view of the river. This is right next to the larger famous hotel and much more friendly and better value. Breakfast was also better than the competition with chef preparing eggs to order, lovely restaurant and easy parking.
Exceptional Clean, comfortable and very cozy. I slept on that bed like a baby. Breakfast was abundant and staff was extra friendly. A bit far from the center, but in such a place that is an advantage - walking through beautiful Karlovy Vary. Has its own parking, which is a big plus. Some major hotels we rejected because they didn'f have parking.
Would recommend it to my best friends Good location, private parking,
Good restaurant
What could be improved: All super!!!
Exceptional The room was really clean which was nice. The staff was friendly and suggested a lot of places one can visit. Additionally the food was quite good.
Great! Restaurant was superb
Very Good Just next to the stream (best thing about it the location indeed). Very peaceful and "zen" as you hear the water running. If you have a meal there you can benefit from a nice terrace, also next to the stream.
What could be improved: It is just a (large) room with a bed. No frills about it. Breakfast is regular.
Highly recommended Location, breakfast, staff and room style
Exceptional It's a perfect place, close to the centre of the city, yet still in a quiet neighbourhood near the park. Very helpful and kind staff. Delicious breakfast. We will definitely come back again.
