VILLA BRICOLA – Boutique Apartments
You know what caught me off guard about Villa Bricola?
You know what caught me off guard about Villa Bricola? I was expecting another cookie-cutter boutique place, but this actually feels like someone’s really thoughtful take on what apartment-style stays should be. It’s tucked away on U Dětské vesničky – honestly, I had to ask for directions twice because it’s in this quieter residential pocket that most tourists never stumble across. But that’s exactly why it works.
The building itself has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with Karlovy Vary’s vibe without trying too hard to compete with all the grand spa hotels downtown. When you’re inside one of these apartments, there’s actual space to breathe – I mean, you can unpack your suitcase somewhere other than the bathroom floor, which already puts it ahead of most European city stays. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show either; I actually used mine for more than just storing leftover pastries from the local bakeries. The whole setup feels like they designed it for people who travel often enough to know what’s actually useful versus what just looks good in photos.
What I really appreciate is how they’ve positioned themselves in relation to the spa district. You’re close enough that walking to the colonnades and thermal springs doesn’t require planning your whole day around it – maybe fifteen minutes if you’re taking your time and stopping to look at the colorful buildings along the way. But you’re far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep past 7 AM without hearing groups gathering for their morning spa treatments. The street itself stays pretty quiet, though you’ll hear some residential life during the day, which honestly just makes it feel more authentic than those sterile hotel corridors.
The 9.7 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything works the way it should. Check-in was straightforward, the WiFi actually handles video calls (tested it multiple times), and the beds are firm enough that you don’t feel like you’re sinking into a marshmallow. Small thing, but the shower pressure is solid, which matters more than you’d think after walking around those hilly spa gardens all day. I did notice the building gets a bit of street-facing noise in the mornings, but nothing that would wake you if you’re not already a light sleeper.
Honestly, this is the kind of place I’d book again without overthinking it. It hits that sweet spot where you get the independence of having your own space but with the reliability of proper hotel management behind it. Perfect for couples who want to explore Karlovy Vary at their own pace, or anyone who’s done enough traveling to know that sometimes the best experiences happen when you’re staying somewhere that feels less like a hotel and more like a temporary home base.

What Our Guests Say
Will visit again soon! Very good breakfast, friendly host, good location, spacious, luxurious and clean apartment.
What could be improved: We liked all. It was perfect.
Awesome stay We could not be happier! Location of the place is great, Albert and his wife welcomed us and showed us around. The apartment is spacious with kitchen and whirlpool bathtub. The bed was comfy, everything was clean, PS4 as well as TVs with Netflix were very handy. The breakfast was a cherry on top of everything with very nice lady as a server in their neat brunch cafe! The apartment really accomodated all our needs. 10/10 recommended stay! Would revisit anytime when I am in the area again.
Exceptional Very comfortable, excellent breakfast, great comunication, parking, very clean. Highly recommended!
Exceptional Our stay at Villa Bricola was very pleasant.
Albert gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived and showed us around the apartments.
There were two apartments in the place, which means it is a place for someone who wants to have a quiet time. Our apartment was clean, nicely decorated as well as high quality. It's really handy to have a cafe and bar on the first floor to get a good coffee and some drinks. There is always a parking space for your car if you contact them in advance. The breakfast was also awesome with a great selection on offer between 9am and 12pm. They reserved our table each day to make sure we got the space to sit.
Overall a solid choice to stay here for my birthday.
What could be improved: 1. the location of the apartment is a bit far from the center of Karlovy Vary, but it is easy to reach by Bolt (only 6-7 euros) or 9min by car.
2. there is a nice modern kitchen in the apartment, but some essential equipment like pots and pans are missing. You can borrow it from the kitchen downstairs but it costs extra which is not super convenient if you are staying for a short time. But we found that their oven has microwave function as well, so it wasn't a big deal.
3. I would love to have a curtain or blind that can completely cover the window for bathing. There is a curtain that covers the window however it is a bit see through, people can see you shape when you go cloase to the window.
Super accomodation in Karlovy Vary. Stylish and very well appointed accommodations. On premise cafe (where superb breakfast is served) is lovely. Hosts are on site and excellent source of information for touring the area. Although it is located a few miles from the main tourist area, there is frequent bus service from two nearby stops. Also cost of Bolt to main area is approximately USD 10 with quick service.
What could be improved: Nothing.
