Hotel Heluan
You know what struck me first about Hotel Heluan?
You know what struck me first about Hotel Heluan? It’s tucked right on Tržiště street, which honestly most tourists completely miss even though they’re walking parallel to it on their way to the castle. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute stroll from all the main spa colonnade action, but somehow you feel like you’ve found this quiet pocket that the tour groups haven’t discovered yet. The building itself has that understated Czech charm – not flashy, but solid in that way that makes you think it’s been taking care of travelers for decades. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that overly formal hotel theater you sometimes get in spa towns.
What I really appreciated was how the staff actually seemed to know Karlovy Vary, not just the hotel. When I asked about grabbing dinner somewhere locals go instead of the tourist traps near the hot springs, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic map – he drew me a little route to this family place about ten minutes away and told me what time to show up before they get busy. The rooms are clean and comfortable without trying too hard to be boutique-y, which honestly felt perfect after spending days walking around the spa district. I had a room facing the street side, and while Tržiště isn’t completely silent (it’s still central Karlovy Vary), it’s way quieter than staying right on the main promenade where you get foot traffic until late. The bathroom was recently updated – you can tell because the fixtures actually match and the shower pressure doesn’t make you question your life choices.
Here’s the thing about this place – it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobby shots, but it does exactly what a good three-star hotel should do. You’re close enough to walk to Dvořák Park when you need a break from all the spa crowds, and if you’re planning day trips to Loket or Cheb, you can actually find parking on the nearby streets without paying resort prices. I stayed during shoulder season in late September, and the rate felt totally reasonable for what you get, especially considering you’re still in the heart of one of Czech Republic’s priciest towns. The 8.1 rating makes sense – it’s the kind of place where nothing goes wrong, the location works perfectly for exploring, and you end up recommending it to people not because it blew you away, but because it just… worked really well.

What Our Guests Say
Good Near city center, comfortable parking (need to reserve).
What could be improved: -
Good What could be improved: Did not get themessage of pin code to get a key. Needed to call.
The breakfast spread was bad, no choice of bread or anything else. The vegetables and fruits were of inferior quality. They did not say anything on the booking page that they will charge extra for parking, and they took 16 euros from me
Wonderful Was close to these various attractions and delicius cusine.
Great location, spacious room. Vintage and good be made over though… The room was one of the biggest I have stayed in! Location is super great. Room has everything…
What could be improved: Decor could have been way better, it is very outdated and it’s a pity for such a good location and spacious room. I had the sensation that it’s not very clean but this I think was due to everything being old.
Beginning was not great, but as soon as we did check in everything was great and great for the price. Everything was clean, room was spacious very fancy looking, you can regulate hitting, so it’s not cold. Everything in the room worked, WiFi was also good. Breakfast was also quite nice, not too big, but I would call it standard breakfast with different bread, some bakery, different cheese and ham and salami, boiled eggs, beans, sausages, tea, coffee, cereals, juice. Location is just in the old city center, so it was perfect.
What could be improved: Before checking in, 2-3 days before our stay I was notified , that hotel didn’t receive our payment even so I could see in my bank account that I did pay, unfortunately on hotel number written in Booking they didn’t want to speak with me on English, so I called to a number on there website, where friendly lady spoke with me English and tried to help me. The day before our stay the problem wasn’t solved yet, so I had to connect with booking customer help, shortly after they called hotel staff, they confirmed me, that everything is good and our reservation would not be cancelled.
Close to the spas and colonnades, with very comfortable, big rooms and friendly staff and rich break A very big room with wooden furniture. Very close to the spa and the colonnades.
Wonderful Great price for a very large room at a great location and with private (paid) parking. Nice old building with beautiful antique elevator. Fridge in the room. Clear instructions on directions.
What could be improved: Breakfast was poor and better come early because things run out. Not even enough eggs for people who came in at 0830.
A stay at the centre It was bang at the centre of all the action, very close to the springs
The building is antique, wonderful and well preserved
What could be improved: Parking is a bit of a hassle.
The mattress was not very comfortable
The room said “landmark view” but all that we saw outside the window was another building under renovation
Wonderful Extremely good in all respects.
