Hotel Marttel
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Marttel?
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Marttel? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet stretch of Lidická street where you wouldn’t expect to find much, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. I mean, Karlovy Vary can get pretty tourist-heavy around the main colonnade areas, but here you’re just far enough removed to feel like you’ve found something a bit more authentic. The building itself has that classic Central European vibe – not flashy, but solid in that reassuring way that makes you think it’s been hosting travelers for decades.
The 3-star rating is spot-on, and I’d say the 7.6 score makes sense too. It’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s something genuinely comfortable about the place. The rooms are clean and well-maintained (honestly better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed), and the staff actually seems to know the area – like, really know it. When I asked about getting to the Diana Observation Tower without dealing with crowds, the receptionist gave me this whole route through the back streets that I never would’ve figured out on my own. Little things like that matter when you’re trying to make the most of your time in a spa town where everyone’s doing the same tourist circuit.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. You’re close enough to walk into the center – maybe 10 minutes to reach Tržiště where all the main action is – but far enough that you’re not dealing with the late-night foot traffic from people bar-hopping or coming back from the casino. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it can be closer to the thermal springs area. I actually managed to find street parking right nearby, which felt like winning the lottery in a place like Karlovy Vary. The breakfast was surprisingly decent too – nothing fancy, but proper local bread and good coffee, which is more than you can say for a lot of places in this price range. If you’re the type who wants to soak in the hot springs during the day and actually get some rest at night, this place hits that sweet spot between accessible and peaceful.

Nice location for exploring Karlstadt Room clean (hair dryer missing), staff very friendly, location near the soccer stadium and near to the centre, best added value for this prize!
Value for money Location, easy parking
What could be improved: Bathroom
A good and cheaper option for Karlovy Vary Large comfy room with fridge. Bathrooms are outdated looking but functional. The hot water and shower pressure were great! Free parking lot right in front of the hotel.
What could be improved: Close to center and an easy 1km walk down but be warned it's all uphill on the way back! No hairdryer...that was a big one for me.
Very Good A very comfortable room with nice decor. Free parking exactly opposite. We enjoyed the walk into town and back. Good value for money.
What could be improved: No dark curtains or blinds.
Some people might not want to walk down the hill into town.
Wonderful Cleanliness, bed, matrace, carpet, room accesory, ...
What could be improved: Size of the toilet room.
Clean, pleasant and comfortable accommodation A clean and pleasant hotel near the historical part of the city, in a quiet area with a large parking lot. We stayed for the second time and will definitely come back again. Very nice and friendly service
What could be improved: It is a pity that the decor of the reception area has been changed, previously it was cozier, the vending machine with hot drinks has disappeared. No more objections :)
