Hotel Palatin
You know what struck me first about Hotel Palatin?
You know what struck me first about Hotel Palatin? It’s actually tucked right into the heart of Karlovy Vary’s spa district on Lázeňská Street, which means you’re literally steps away from the colonnades where locals line up with their ceramic spa cups every morning. I mean, you can hear the gentle murmur of people taking their thermal water cure from your window – it’s oddly soothing once you get used to it. The building itself has that classic Central European elegance that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. Four stars feels about right here; it’s polished without being stuffy, and honestly, the 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed a night or two.
What really won me over was how the staff just… gets it. They understand that half their guests are here for the spa treatments and the other half are culture vultures exploring the Czech Republic’s most famous resort town. Check-in was smooth (they actually had my room ready early, which never happens), and the front desk guy casually mentioned that the best time to visit the Mill Colonnade is around 7 AM before the tour groups arrive – the kind of insider tip you’d normally have to figure out yourself. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality with updated bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure, which is honestly a minor miracle in some of these historic buildings. I particularly loved the windows – they’re tall and let in so much light, plus you get glimpses of the spa park if you crane your neck just right.
The location is pretty much perfect for exploring on foot. Lázeňská Street connects you to everything – you can walk to the Grandhotel Pupp (yes, the one from Casino Royale) in about five minutes, and the funicular up to the Diana Lookout Tower is maybe a ten-minute stroll. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, but the hotel sorts that out for you, which removes one of those little travel headaches that can derail your morning. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being so central – something about the way these old spa towns are laid out just naturally dampens the noise. The breakfast room has this warm, almost homey atmosphere where you’ll find yourself lingering over coffee longer than planned, watching locals and visitors mix at nearby tables. It’s the kind of place that feels authentically Czech without being touristy about it, and after a few days, you start to understand why people have been coming to Karlovy Vary for centuries to recharge.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Very clean, friendly personal, good location
The people made our stay here an exceptionally delightful experience Absolutely amazing atmosphere, lovely owner who made every effort to accommodate our needs, far beyond our expectations. Great and helpful staff, both at the reception desk and the kitchen. Getting our coffees on the second day exactly like we had them on our first day without us saying a word was really impressive!
What could be improved: The fact that we have to leave after just 2 nights... We wish we could stay longer!

What could be improved: Everything was great
Great hotel, super nice and helpful staff, and amazing location. The location, which is in the town’s Main Street, close to many shops, restaurants and baths.
What could be improved: There are now curtains or shutters, that hide the sunlight. Due to day we were forced to wake up very early.
Also, there is no air conditioning system in the hotel. We were lucky to stay in the hotel when it’s still cold outside, and as I have already read in previous review, the missing AC could be a huge problem.
Perfect 👏👏👏 Everything was perfect. Many congratulations to the owner and the impeccable staff.
So friendly, so warm... We felt here like we were at home 💚
Cozy, and good value. A wide variety of breakfasts. The staff is very kind. The room size is perfect and the bathroom is large enough.
What could be improved: The pillow is too soft and it would be better to have a kettle in the room.
Pretty much perfect in every aspect. What a gem! Unbeatable location. Clean and comfortable room. Superb breakfast. Kind, helpful, and professional staff. I couldn’t have asked for a better place. Thank you!
