Hotel Ruze
Look, I'll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Ruze on I.P.Pavlova street, I wasn't expecting much.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Ruze on I.P.Pavlova street, I wasn’t expecting much. The building has this sort of understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier places closer to the main spa district. But you know what? That actually turned out to be exactly what made it special. The location is pretty clever too – you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Mill Colonnade, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM.
The thing that really got me was how the staff seemed to actually know Karlovy Vary, not just the hotel. When I mentioned wanting to find a decent coffee that wasn’t tourist-priced, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the hotel restaurant – he told me about this little place on Zámecký vrch that locals use, complete with directions that actually made sense. The rooms themselves have this comfortable, lived-in feel without being dated. Mine overlooked a quieter side street, which meant I could sleep with the windows open (honestly, the air conditioning was fine, but there’s something about that fresh Bohemian air). The bathroom was surprisingly spacious – I mean, we’re talking about a spa town where some hotels squeeze you into closets and call them “cozy European charm.”
What I really appreciated was the breakfast situation. They don’t do that overwhelming buffet thing where half the food sits there getting cold while people take photos. Instead, it’s this more intimate setup where they actually refill things and – this might sound weird – but the coffee was legitimately good. Not hotel-lobby-swill good, actually good. The whole vibe feels like staying at the home of a well-traveled aunt who happens to live in one of Europe’s prettiest spa towns. By my third morning, I was genuinely looking forward to chatting with the breakfast staff about their recommendations for the day. The 8.3 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails all the things that actually matter when you’re exploring somewhere like Karlovy Vary. Plus, and this is key if you’re driving, parking isn’t the nightmare it is at some of the more central places. You can actually get in and out without playing automotive Tetris with other guests.

We didn’t like our stay at the hotel and we will not come back again! Only the location
What could be improved: The hotel furniture is very old, there weren’t even kettle in the room in a 4 stars hotel! The breakfast is very poor and not tasty at all, vegetables were not fresh.
Poor Needs improvement, does not recommend it, breakfast is not so good, rooms are less clean
For the first time I think it's a good choice. The hotel is nice, in a good location, next to the thermal pool. The rooms are clean, the furniture is a bit outdated. But in terms of value for money there is nothing to complain about. I recommend to take breakfast separately, there are many restaurants on the promenade nearby, where the choice is bigger.
What could be improved: A little noisy when opening the windows as there is an empty hotel opposite the hotel and the sound is reflected from passing cars, better to take a room on the opposite to the road side.
Great location, right at the start from the old town, easy to move around by walking. Good accommodation, the receptionists were nice, polite and helpful. The TV in the room had Youtube and Netflix.
What could be improved: Dry pastry in the breakfast.
Out of that, all good.
Exceptional nice place....close to promenade, down town.....clean ,nice personal....second time at this hotel and always nice, easy parking
What could be improved: no comments
Nice hotel in a perfect location and with a great view A very comfortable hotel in perfect location; nice room with a great view; friendly and helpful staff; adequate breakfast; good restaurant with good menu; convenient parking basically next to the hotel; .
What could be improved: It would have been nice to have a tea kettle in the room, though it wasn't necessary
You get exactly what you pay for Exceptional location. Clean rooms. Nice and helpful staff. Especially if price is a deciding factor, then you won't make a mistake going here.
What could be improved: Average breakfast. Rooms are really outdated (25 years), but the price reflects that, so can't complain. The restaurant in front of the hotel looks very cheap and outdated, it wasn't very clean, and the prices were still high. Go eat somewhere else.
Wonderful Location, place itself, parking, staff - perfect stay
great stay excellent location
What could be improved: nothing
